April 2021 – Emergency food distribution

The economic and social consequences of the health crisis are very palpable. With 75% of the population living on less than $1.9 a day (World Bank, 2019) and 50% of children under five suffering from stunting, the situation raises fears of a food and social crisis.

While the health situation is rapidly deteriorating in Tananarive, the school has set up a weekly distribution of basic necessities.
  • This highly anticipated event will also:
  • To make an inventory of the situation of each of our students
  • To help more particularly some of our children in the most total destitution
  • To accompany certain children for medical care
  • This first week of distribution received the support of the Happy Mada Association and the company ODITY for the masks

2nd WEEK OF DISTRIBUTION
Nearly 300 beneficiary families go to school every week to look for a food / hygiene kit, because eating and having access to hygiene products are essential supports to survive during this crisis!

3rd DISTRIBUTION OF ESSENTIAL PRODUCTS!
To avoid an excessive influx of children, the distribution week is divided into 3 days (Tuesday: kindergarten / Wednesday: primary / Thursday: middle school)

The association Le Regard d’Anna participated financially

in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of distribution

4th FOOD DISTRIBUTION AND A BIG APPETITE TO LEARN
Things have been in place for 1 month and the children, properly dressed, come to school with a smile. You can feel a real appetite and a demand to learn from them!
Before picking up their food, the students hand in their homework for the week, review for a few minutes with the teachers and receive the exercises to do at home.

MAY 2021 – RESUME OF EXAMINATION CLASSES
For the past 1 week, classes have resumed for CM2 and 3th grade classes so that students can continue their learning.
The priority is to take measures for the health, safety and well-being of children and staff.
A strict health protocol had to be put in place:
  • temperature taking and hydroalcoholic wash at the entrance to the school
  • all doors and windows must be open
  • wearing a clean mask every day
  • impeccable hygiene
  • hand washing with soap before entering the classroom/canteen respect for physical distance
After 9 weeks of school closures by the Malagasy authorities due to the pandemic, the children returned to school today.
The students were happy to resume their schooling, to play and eat their fill… in short, to gradually return to a normal life.
The children and staff thank all the associations and people who supported the school during this difficult time!
The adventure continues… together we defend the rights of children to education
